Privacy Policy for FlyRec

FlyRec ("the app") is a cockpit video recording application for general aviation pilots, developed by FlyUp Academy ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the app handles your information. In short: FlyRec does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.

Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. FlyRec has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers that receive your data. We cannot see your recordings or any information about how you use the app.

Data stored on your device

All content created with FlyRec stays on your device:

• Video recordings are saved to your device's storage (the Movies/FlyRec folder) and appear in your gallery. They are never uploaded anywhere by the app.
• App settings (such as your preferred video quality and other preferences) are stored locally on your device.
• Temporary recording segments are kept in the app's private cache during recording and are removed after a recording is finalized.

You remain in full control of these files and can delete them at any time from within the app or through your device.

Permissions the app requests

FlyRec requests the following permissions solely to provide its core function — recording cockpit video with audio from your Bluetooth aviation headset:

• Camera — to record video.
• Microphone — to capture audio from your Bluetooth headset (or the phone microphone if no headset is connected).
• Bluetooth / Nearby devices — to detect and connect to your aviation headset for audio.
• Notifications (Android 13+) — to show recording status while a recording is in progress.

These permissions are used only on your device and only while you use the app. The app does not access your contacts, location history, messages, or other personal data.

Sharing

The app does not share any data with us or with third parties. If you choose to share a recording using your device's share feature, that action is initiated by you and handled by the app or service you select — not by FlyRec.

Children

FlyRec is intended for pilots and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Because the app does not collect data, we have no way to notify you directly; please check this page for the current version.
